What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and the final authority for faith and life.

  • We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, sinless, crucified for our sins, risen bodily from the dead, and coming again in glory.

  • We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

  • We believe the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers all believers for godly living and service.

  • We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, disciple believers, and proclaim the Gospel to the world.

  • We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and the eternal destiny of all people—either with Christ in glory or separated from Him in hell.

Our Story: The Myanmar Evangelical Partnership Project

The work of Encouragement, Inc. in Myanmar began in 1988 through the grassroots initiative known as the Myanmar Evangelical Partnership Project (MEP). This bold effort set out with a focused mission: to fund the translation and publication of the New Testament in the Falam Chin dialect. The goal was simple yet profound—bring God’s Word to the remote tribal communities of the Chin Hills in their native language – a region largely unreached and spiritually underserved.

As the translated Scriptures took root and spread throughout the region, the vision expanded. The faithful translators—many of whom were indigenous Christian leaders—felt a deeper call: to establish a non-denominational theological seminary in Yangon to train the next generation of church leaders. In 1996, with support from Encouragement, Inc., that vision became a reality through the launch of Yangon Theological Seminary (YTS).

For more than a decade, YTS flourished as a center for theological training, equipping hundreds of pastors, evangelists, and church planters. These faithful men and women carried the Gospel into some of Myanmar’s most spiritually isolated and politically restricted areas—many of which remain inaccessible to outsiders even today.

Beulah Theological Seminary: Building the Next Generation

The work of Encouragement, Inc. in Myanmar began in 1988 through the grassroots initiative known as the Myanmar Evangelical Partnership Project (MEP). This bold effort set out with a focused mission: to fund the translation and publication of the New Testament in the Falam Chin dialect. The goal was simple yet profound—bring God’s Word to the remote tribal communities of the Chin Hills in their native language – a region largely unreached and spiritually underserved.

In 2003, Dr. Joseph Thang Hup — former President and Academic Dean of YTS—founded Beulah Theological Seminary (BTS). Drawing on his years of academic and ministry experience, Joseph established BTS as a center for sound theological training and leadership development. Since its founding, the seminary has played a pivotal role in raising up nationals in Myanmar—equipping pastors, evangelists, and church planters to boldly proclaim the Gospel and bring lasting transformation to their communities.

Since its inception, BTS has:

  • Enrolled over 320 students

  • Graduated 82 trained Christian leaders

  • Sent students and faculty into unreached regions for evangelism and church planting

  • Hosted numerous outreach events – attended by many from Buddhist backgrounds

  • Continued the translation and publication of the Falam Chin Study Bible

Encouragement, Inc. has fully funded the education, housing, and ministry training of over 820 students at YTS and BTS combined. More than 250 graduates now serve as national missionaries, teachers, and pastors throughout Myanmar—proclaiming Christ where foreign missionaries are not allowed.
